June 15: Singularity wins the Gold! Foreword Magazine named it Science Fiction Book of the Year.

May 24: Singularity is the winner of the 2005 Ippy Award for best independently published Fantasy/Science Fiction novel.

May 20: Per Aspera is proud to announce the second novel in our premiere hardcover line: Steel Sky by Andrew C. Murphy, scheduled for Spring 2006. The cover will feature an original illustration by Linda Tso. More information will be forthcoming when we return from New York.

April 22: But wait, there’s more! Singularity is also one of three finalists for the Benjamin Franklin Award for Best New Voice, Fiction.

April 18: Per Aspera is seeking to commission an original illustration for the cover of our next lead title; we’ve posted details for artists who may wish to submit a portfolio.

April 11: Singularity has just been listed as a finalist for two awards: the Foreword Magazine Book of the Year Award in the category of Science Fiction, and the Benjamin Franklin Award for Cover Design (1-2 Color). Go us!

April 4: Per Aspera Press is pleased to announce an exclusive trade distribution relationship with Independent Publishers Group. Singularity and Scars will be included in IPG’s Fall 2005 general catalog, and Liferock will be available as a backlist title.

March 16: Singularity was mentioned in this week’s issue of Library Journal, in an article about “promising first novels.”

February 12: John Grant posted a glowing review of Singularity to Infinity Plus: “This is a book you’ll want to own in hardback ... DeSmedt is a wonderful newcomer to the field, and his debut one of great significance to it.” Also, we’ve given them an excerpt not available elsewhere.

February 3: We’ve completely revamped our web site organization and added lots of new information. Take a look around ...

January 25: Readers Read has listed Singularity as one of the best books of 2004 in not one, but two categories: Mystery / Thriller and Science Fiction / Fantasy.

January 17: Singularity made the bestseller list of San Diego independent bookstore Mysterious Galaxy.

January 4: Barnes & Noble Explorations placed Singularity at number five on its list of Top Ten Novels of 2004.

December 15: Writers Write praised Singularity in their newly posted review. They also put up a comprehensive interview with author Bill DeSmedt which gives some hints about what might be coming up in Bill’s next book Dualism.

December 12: Singularity author Bill DeSmedt’s fantastic radio interview on Hour25 is live. Listen in. Host Warren James and Producer Suzanne Gibson both loved the book.

November 5: Singularity author Bill DeSmedt’s Official Web Site went live today. Check it out.

November 1: Singularity is one of the featured new releases in barnesandnoble.com’s Explorations newsletter. Reviewer Paul Goat Allen says, “With a cast of engaging characters, highly inventive and witty prose, and enough intriguing plot twists to keep readers in a state of perpetual shock until the very last page, Singularity is easily as entertaining as any Michael Crichton or Greg Bear thriller. Equal parts hard science fiction adventure and mainstream technothriller, Singularity is arguably one of the best debuts of 2004.”

October 27: Singularity copies have arrived from the printer and look fantastic. They should be available in a limited array of bookstores as well as in the warehouses of online retailers shortly.

October 27: We’ve learned that, despite the critical acclaim by bestselling authors and respected trade reviewers, Singularity has not yet been accepted by Barnes and Noble for in-store stocking. Nor is the book currently stocked by Powells Books, Borders or Books-A-Million. We are working to change this and can use your help. Please request a book from your local store. Give them the ISBN number (0974573442) and they should be able to order you a copy. Eventually, the stores will stock it.

October 25: Publishers Weekly reviewed Singularity, praising Bill DeSmedt’s “deft characterization” and said the novel was “a respectable if not outstanding first effort.”

September 17: Per Aspera is proud to announce that three New York Times bestselling authors (Kevin J. Anderson, Greg Bear, and David Brin) have praised Singularity.

August 5: An interview with Liferock author Jak Koke appeared in the University of Washington newspaper, University Week.

July 12: Singularity galleys have arrived and are being shipped this week.
